What is Admitted Students Day, and Should I Attend?

by | Apr 1, 2024 | Admissions

It is an exciting time of year, as the remaining college decisions have rolled in, and seniors are in the final stretch of selecting their colleges. Before you submit your deposit and attend orientation to your selected college, students and parents have the option to attend Admitted Students Day. But what is it, and how can it help?

What Is It?

Admitted (Accepted) Students Day is a designated day for all admitted students to visit campus and celebrate their acceptance in a new way before making their final decision. Students and parents will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet with staff and faculty and ask questions
  • Learn more about programs and academic opportunities
  • Enjoy customized sessions and hear more about Orientation
  • Take a campus tour
  • Meet other admitted students
  • Eat in the dining halls
  • Gauge more about life on campus
  • Attend financial aid sessions

Why Attend?

So, how can attending be helpful to both students and parents?

  • Help you as you make your final college decision (by May 1st). Whether it’s taking another tour (or your first) around campus or further evaluating the department for your intended major, this is your final opportunity to gather everything you need to make your final selection.
  • Learn more about housing options, extracurricular opportunities, academic programs and academic support offerings.
  • Since you have already done your research as a prospective student, now, as an admitted student, you can ask more targeted questions. The more comfortable you are with the college, the smoother the transition in the Fall!

What to Focus On?

Colleges do a fantastic job facilitating a fun-filled day for their admitted students, so what can you, as the student and parent, focus on?

  • Think about any remaining questions you still might have. Do you know all the housing options? What about meal plans? What are the academic support services offered on campus? Do your professors have office hours?
  • Campus life. You have been so involved throughout high school, what would you like to continue in college? Have you explored clubs? What about student and athletic facilities? What food options do you have both on and off campus?

Now it’s your turn to be in the driver’s seat, to be as informed as you can as you evaluate your options. We at Campus Bound know all the hard work you have poured into your college process over the last several months. We also understand how difficult it can be to make your final college decision. Your Campus Bound counselor is here to help you navigate this last, very exciting step!
