In New York City, it's important to know...

  • The capital of New York is NOT New York City.  Instead, it’s Albany, about three hours north of New York City and centrally located in the state.  

  • New York City is very pricey.  From rent to meals to school supplies, everything is more expensive on the island of Manhattan.  Also, watch out for that 8.5% sales tax on everything!
