College Selection FAQs

How do I start the college search process?
First, it is important to develop an understanding of what is important to you. Areas of academic interest, social atmosphere, location, cost, and size are all considerations that should be evaluated. Campus Bound counselors will help you identify these goals and then align your high school efforts and college search accordingly.

When is the best time to begin the college search?
Families have busy schedules and it is important to take a methodical approach to the college search and application process. Students will be best served by mapping out and implementing a plan that leaves sufficient time to discover colleges and complete applications and essays in an environment that is not rushed. Campus Bound starts working with students as early as freshman year to advise them on course and activity selection. However, most of the college advising takes place at the in the junior year and beginning of senior year.

How do I learn about schools that are too far away for me to visit?
While many students utilize the web and college guidebooks, the Campus Bound team has visited hundreds of schools.  In addition, Campus Bound students have access to unique tools including our online search and application tracking software.  Moreover, students can receive unbiased feedback through Campus Quick Looks.

How do I find colleges that are different from those that all of my friends are applying to?
Campus Bound prides itself in finding a unique list of colleges for each individual student.  Our counselors strive to find the best fit academically, socially, athletically, and financially.
